Monday Mornin' . . . Rise and Shine!
Rhonda

It is now week 4 of my Astronomy class. We have a mid-term tomorrow, and I'm a little nervous about it, but should do okay. The first part of the course was REALLY difficult, because we got a crash course in Physics and Math - and I got a B on that test, so I'm pretty sure I'll do better tomorrow.
I am also halfway into my second to last chapter for my Geography class. That's the one I am taking online. I get to finish this chapter (11) and then the next (12) and then poke the turkey with a fork, because I am DONE with that class!
Went down to Dana Point on Saturday to see the high surf; it was pretty amazing. The surf was breaking over the breakwater by the Ocean Institute, where the tide pools are.
Speaking of which, I have 2 tide pool docent shifts coming up - on 8/9 and 8/23 - both are Sundays and I will be there from 3 pm-7 pm each day. If you are in the area, stop on by and say hello! I'll be one of the people in the red vests!
Well, time to work on more homework. Talk to you guys later!
Oh it's Monday and I'm back from a wonderful weekened in Santa Cruz. Oh it was hard getting up this morning to come to work.
Garlic Festival/Gilroy Outlet Mall/Santa Cruz Beach........what a great weekend we had. Left Saturday at 4AM, got to the garlic festival by 10:00 and tried some garli**** cream. YUCK is all I can say. But at least I can say I've tried it and lived to tell about it. I can't understand how anyone can eat that. I like garlic, but that is just plain nasty. The outlet mall in Gilroy is to die for. Got some great bargains and spent way too much money. Then it was off to Santa Cruz and the Beach. OMG, I love the beach. Why am I living out here in no mans land. Would someone please tell me. The weather was just amazing. Didn't break a sweat the entire weekend. Got up early on Sunday morning, put on our sweatshirts and walked 2 miles down to the beach where we were able to watch the Wharf to Wharf race. It's a 10K race and we got to the end of the street just as the "elite" runners were coming through. We saw some strange people running though. I think my two favorites though were definitely the guy dressed as Elvis and some lady wearing a fairy outfit with wings on. At least I think she was a lady. Who knows. LOL Then it was a nice walk on the boardwalk and back to our motel to head over to breakfast with family. We were on the road home by 1PM. Alot of traffic coming home though and we didn't get home until 8PM. Tired and weary but still happy from our wonderful weekend away.
And now, it's back to the grind of the work week. Ugh...it's hard to get started this morning for sure. But work awaits me so I must get busy. Hope everyone has a great day, stay cool, stay hydrated and remember to do something nice for yourself

P.S. Heed Rhonda's warning about passwords and don't give any of your passwords out to anyone no matter how much you think they are your friend or you trust them. Also, change your passwords on a regular basis. You can't imagine the damage that can be done to your life if someone gets into your personal information. Take it from me, because it happened to me.There are people out there who are not very nice even if you think they are. So, protect yourself. Basically guard your passwords as you would guard your credit card numbers.
Chris, hope your son hears some good news this week! Naomi and MoMo, have fun in Vegas, and to our darlins having surgery this week, prayers and thoughts go out to you both for uneventful surgeries and speedy recoveries. If you own an iPod (or similar) don't forget to wear it into surgery, it really helped me to relax. Of course they remove it but then put it back in recovery!
Today brings celebration for my hubby, Ron's birthday, a low key celebration with his Mom and I. Yesterday we celebrated with my Stepmom and our good friend Steve.
I will also be doing the job search thing again, it's work looking for work LOL
Hope everyone has a great week ahead and super day.
Hugs,
Barb
I really hate Mondays and I don't even work. Things are so much quieter without Dougie here, but I am sure ready for him to be hanging around the house all the time now. We love hanging out and doing things. There are so many people we want to see and so many things we want to do. Let's hope that our health holds out for a very long time and we can do as we planned.
I was reading about the password situations. So true, I, for one, a very easy to give my password out, but I never realized that damage that can be done, so it's never happening again. So if you ask me for mine and I don't give it to you, please don't be offended, it's not personal, it's business! lol.
Well I am counting down the days till surgery. I am awaiting paper work from the surgeon so I can call the doctor that I need to go to and get all my pre op testing done. I am not worried about anything. The most critical would be my small heart problem and I have clearance already from my cardiologist. It's not anything to do with my heart, my problem is with the electrical system that make my heart beat strangely at times.
Naomi, I hate you, going away and having a good time. How dare you go without me!! I know I can't go yet, but we will. Everyone have a great day!
Love...Diane
Chris, thoughts and prayers going your sons way for info on the job.
Good thoughts and prayers going to all that are having surgery this week. Speedy recovery for all.
So the hat war begins, I see the glue guns coming out of the holsters as we read this post. I did not recognize MoMo!!!
To everybody, have a great day and make someone smile today. A smile does not cause wrinkles and you burn calories smiling. Gotta love it.
Hugs & Love,

Karen

If you need help with an avatar, email your photo to someone techie like me, or Julia, or a friend that you know, and we can re-size it and email it back to you with NO exchange of passwords needed! Easy peasy....
It breaks my heart that we need to worry about such things, but people have been known to lose friends, reputations, and JOBS even due to the twisted actions of people with ulterior motives. These things happen every day, all around us! "Caveat Emptor"...let the buyer beware... applies to so much more than just making purchases, doesn't it?
On to happier things! What a fabulous weekend of fun and friendship!
We sent Crystal off with a bang at Friday night's last supper.... She is in surgery right now.... Lord, be with her and with Dr. Chin and the team... I pray for a perfect surgery, in Jesus' name...amen....
That reminds me of a funny story. When I began teaching in a school in a largely Latino area, I remember seeing signs all over the place around campus saying, "Jesus for prom king!". I thought, "how sweet of these kids to honor Jesus in this way".... LOL... guess what? It was the "hay SOOS" kinda pronunciation.....a kid named Jesus... ha ha...
I'm so used to it now, but I'll never forget that first day.
love you all...have a happy day...
Lori
Happy Monday, Cali Crew!!!
I finally just got caught up on the happenings on the board and have vowed no more disappearing acts from me. Way too much to catch up on!!!
Sounds like everyone had a really great weekend, full of lots of supports, friendship and just all around fun. What a wonderful place OH is. Not many places offer such amazing support and true friendships with no alterior motives or strings attached. I am truly grateful for the wonderful people I have met and the amazing friendships I have been blessed with.
Diane – I am so glad you were feeling up to venturing out over the weekend. It was really great spending time with you. I hope you aren’t paying for it today. And tell Doug thank you so much for chauffering us around on Saturday.
Momo – Okay, love the hat. I am tempted to follow suit and spruce up my cowboy hat. I’m thinking next year at Stagecoach we’ll all have to wear our spiffy hats and strut our stuff.
Lori – Glad to hear you enjoyed your afternoon boat ride on the ocean. Sounds like quite the end to a really great day!! I really enjoyed meeting you and can’t wait until the next time we can get together.
Jackie – Hope your feeling good and you didn’t over do it this weekend. Thank you for coming out to lunch, it was great getting to know you. Take it wasy and just keep sipping tha****er. You’re doing great, hon!!
Jean – I am so glad you were able to attend the Long Beach coffee, what a great surprise!! I had been wanting to meet you & was so disappointed that you weren’t going to make it. Thank you so much!! It was great meeting you!!
Naomi – Oh goodness!! You are gorgeous!!! And what a great lady!! I loved meeting you and can’t wait to see you again!!
Javi – It was really great meeting you also. Can’t believe I’ve waited this long to make it out to an OH event. That’ll teach me. Well, at least now I know what I was missing, never again.
Oh and BTW: Loving the new avatar!!! But what exactly does that sign mean (ROTFLMAO)? I’ll never tell!!!
Stacie – So nice to meet you in person!! We will definitely have to get together again, soon. You are not too far from me so we can plan on it. And know my fingers are crossed for that new job. I think that will truly be a god send for you!!
SueBee – Hope you enjoyed your special day!! It was great fun, glad I was able to share it with you. And boy can your daughter sing!!! I’m sure I’ll be seeing you again very soon.
Katt – Hope you hear some good news regarding the 2nd interview. I know how hard you’ve been looking. I am praying for you!!! It was great seeing you again this weekend. Can’t wait to see the pictures!!
Celeste – Great seeing you, this weekend!! I’m sure I’ll be seeing you again very soon. I have a couple of invites up there so, we’re bound to see each other!!! I’ll call and let you know when.
Michelle – My girl!!! It was so special to be included in your special day, thank you very much!! You are such an amazing and beautiful woman and I am so grateful to know and love you. This is going to be a very busy week for you and I am here counting down the days with ya. I will definitely see you this week, even if I have to crash a kid’s pool party at Rhonda’s!! I love you and am so excited for you. I am here for whatever you need whenever you may need it. Your day is here, make the most of it!!!
Becky – I’ve pretty much decided you need to move up by all of us!!! I miss you already and with no plans on the books, I’m goin’ crazy for a Becky fix!!! I don’t think I’ve told you but you are such a great lady and I am so grateful for your openness and complete willingness to offer all the love and friendship that skinny body of yours has to offer. Thank you for sharing it with me. I love you and consider you a dear friend.
Okay, getting’ a little Misty here, but I am so grateful for the friendships I have developed and the love of those friends. There is just such an acceptance here on these boards that I have never been priveledged to know before WLS. So, thank you!!
And of course, can’t forget Ms. Rhonda – I love you my dear and love spending time with you and your amazing family. You help me more than I can ever put into words. Sharing the love that is felt from your family and in your home has overflowed into my home and I am able to share it with my boys. That is an awesome blessing. You have pushed me to get out of my shell and receive the blessings from the OH community, another amazing gift. And seriously, the fun you bring wherever we are and whatever we do, girl my sides hurt after a day with you and the girls!!! But, I’ll take that anyday!! This weekend was so great!!! I love you my dear!!! Can’t wait to see you again!!
Okay, well now that I’ve spent so much time on here I better get back to work. To anyone I may have left out I’m sorry but know you have touched my life in ways you may never know. So, please keep posting I love reading them and as insignificant as they may seem you may help someone in need.
Have a great day!!!
